Hamburg, December 27, 2019 - Managers Nordic Hamburg Shipmanagement report that today at appx. 09.15 UTC following a technical issue its managed container vessel Songa Iridium collided with the shore pier in the Bosporus, Turkey whilst transiting southbound. There are no injuries and no pollution reported as a result of the incident. Both Songa Iridium and the pier apparently sustained only minor damage. The vessel is in a stable condition and has not suffered any water ingress. The vessel is currently assisted by tugs and is being moved to a safe anchorage.
Immediately after the incident all relevant authorities and parties have been informed. The exact cause of the technical issue with Songa Iridium is yet unknown. A full investigation to which Nordic Shipmanagement will offer its full cooperation will follow.
